Enhance your LinkedIn address. It helps “brand” you and it’s easy to do!
Once you customize your URL, you can put your new, branded URL on your resume, business cards, etc.
Your current public LinkedIn URL is probably a string of letters and/or #s that makes your address look unappealing and unmemorable.
Example: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/joan-smith/6a217b542
To edit this,
- Sign into your LinkedIn.
- Click “Me” under the main menu at the top of the page and choose “View Profile”
- In the upper right-hand corner, you’ll see “Edit pubic profile and URL” – Click that and then you’ll see a little pencil icon which will allow you to edit the url.
- Now write what you want. So for example if …
Your current URL is http://www.linkedin.com/pub/joan-smith/6a217b542
Customize your URL with your name.
- Example: joansmith (Note: The url can’t have caps or spaces. And if you have a relatively common name, you may need to include a middle initial or use a dash like joan-smith)
- Save it.
- You’re profile will now appear as www.linkedin.com/in/joansmith — a much cleaner look for the resume, your business card, sharing it in emails, etc!
RESULT: www.linkedin.com/in/joansmith
